I just bought a Depth Master off the bay.

Always wanted to try one of these but didn't want to spring for full price.

Got it for about half price I guess. Seller says it's new, never used.

Well, here we go. I'll post a review sometime if there's any interest.

What does the Depth Master do? Amplify weak tones without blowing your ears off? HH, Mike

Do you think it's worth having for some detectors?

I think Jim could better answer your question Mike.

From what I've heard (read) it amplifies weak signals but also enhances them so they're better noticed. It also turns a mono detector into a stereo.

Then it keeps loud signals from blasting your ears.

Anyway, this is what I gathered from reading the web.

I know that in the U.K. there's a company somewhere that's known to "soup up" detectors and they make a similar device. As I recall I read that off gary's detectors website. I think it was on the page about the original Tesoro Silver Sabre (it's a cult detector in the U.K.). Not sure anymore--that was a couple years back.

What I'm expecting is it won't be a big deal for most detectors. I figure most new machines probably already have this built in. I'd guess it would help older "obsolete" models lacking is the receive section. Just a guess but I've always wanted to try it.

I can't even find that thing anywhere.
Found the Audio phones - but not the Depth Master.
Could of swore I saw it at Kellyco - but can't find it there now.

I know KellyCo had it last year. You could give em a call to see if they have any laying around.

I've searched the web and so far can't find anybody selling it new.

Again, most likely it did okay with the older machines but maybe now it's outdated?

If it were HOT I doubt it would be dropped as a listed sale item.

Somewhere way back I have an old thread where we discussed the DepthMaster. I'll see if I can locate it.

Hum? Guess I did alright at $27 postpaid for a new one off ebay. Too bad the guy only had 1 left.

Re: I Finally Bought the Depth Master

Never heard of it either MB, seems like it works like the gain function on the Explorer II? ???

Re: I Finally Bought the Depth Master

The only thing this gimmick is, is a volume amplifier. It is not actually making the detector detect any deeper. Some people have been fooled (by the title) into believing so.

Basically, if your detector's headphones (or your own hearing) is bad, then it might help. You could also solve that problem by simply getting a better quality pair of headphones :o They're not going to tell you anything your detector isn't already telling you. Ie.: it's not adding to depth, only to volume of what's already there.

That's what I've always thought too Tom and that's why I never bought one before.

But, I've heard from guys who claim it's more than that. There are people even today who wouldn't be without it.

So....I've got to try it. My curiosity got the better of me. ;D

Probably so. I think the Explorer is just fine how it is.

Got it!

My goodness they sure don't make finding that sucker easy!

They don't even have it listed in their search as DepthMaster. They call it "Champion System." ???

It won't work with Whites and Garrett GTA's.

The one KellyCo sells looks different from mine so my DepthMaster must be an older model.
