The actual lyric in the hymn Rock Of Ages does say "cleft." But perhaps Creskol was doing some dry humor, saying God "left" the rock at that spot for txusguy13 to find. ;-)

IMO, it's a piece of petrified wood, showing insect bore holes made before burial. You can clearly see the wood grain in the smaller piece.

I am going to vote for, "dinosaur Poop" it would be it's original soft with air bubbles shape replaced by rock over billions of years.

And there in lies the “slow” on my part.

To me it looks like sandstone that pebbles got trapped in depressions and the wind spun them and eroded the holes in the rock. Sandstone is a very soft rock formation a sedimentary rock meaning sediments layed down over time. Or the holes could also have been bubbles in the mud that became part of the rock when it finished forming.
