This item came from an area that I have dug plenty of Revolutionary War Musket balls from I’ve found a few that were split or hit rocks but all round this one I have not clue. It’s highly unlikely it was from a modern shotgun slug. it was dug in the mud on the edge of a lake.
Definitely not any type of fishing weight or that. To me it looks like it did have some contact with something grazed the side of it. Could this be a cleaning the barrel of left over powder round? But why the snap has me confused . In need to make a trip to the Museum to have the curator I’d a piece for me I should bring this along.
Any ideas I would Be thankful for

Don,t really know what it is other than a piece of lead.It doesn,t show any characteristics of a bullet or ball of any kind though. What is this snap you speak of? it doesn,t show in the pics that I can see?
