What a mess! I am not sure you can legally keep it if you know who it belongs to, especially if they know you have it!
You might check your local laws. I would try to reach Winston and let the two of them figure out who gets the ring. ....so are the Days of our Lives! Let us know what happens!

I would say since the ring will bring bad memories ,you should keep it. He will sell it for weight. Very noble thing you are doing .

I understand your situation is a tough one to be in... but you do the right thing and it will feel great and then you'll find something even better for you to keep!

problem is what should you do... hopefully the guy won't want it.

Yeah the guy hasnt called me back at all.
The ring is 8.5g 18k so worth some $ I guess.
You'd think he'd want it but who knows how the marriage ended.

true she might have bought it but she gave it to him as the inscription says * ( a gift once "given" is no longer "yours") so legally it is his item , no matter what she says -- being they are divorced -it is highly possible that once returned "'winston" will sell for scrap ( due to bad memorys) but since you now "know" who the owner is, you should contact him and see if he wants it or not -- if not it seems you got a "tainted love" ring to sell for scrap * --

as per current price at full melt value 8.5 grams of 18k is worth $339.03 -- of which you should get at least 50% in value so say $160 / 170 bucks at minimum .

Yeah I left him a message at his home. I tried to call since then with no answer and no return yet.
I guess Ill wait and see. I told him on the message that I found it so I guess its in his hands now.
I'll wait a week or so and then will start shopping for a place to sell it.
Ive never sold gold and expect to get shafted. :laughing7:

well if you know its worth about $340 in gold value say so and say i know i can not expect full value since you got to turn a profiet but I/m not a drunk or crackhead and my rents already paid so I'm not taking less than half of current spot melt value (currently about the $160 to $170 range)- do it as a straight up sale -- half the value for me and half for you , thats fair -- if not I walk away and someone esle will get what could be your bussiness plain as that--this ring don't eat and it will cost me nothing to hold on to it until I get a fair deal .-refused to get totally hosed.

Hmmmm,...out of curiousity I went over to Facebook to have a look at Mr. White from Athens. My gaydar really pinged, so I can surmise that this may have been a bitter divorce. Not that there is anything wrong with being gay, but just sayin'..

I think under the circumstances, I would sell it, keep 50% of the proceeds and offer to give each of them 25%. If they bulk .. keep their share, too.
Or, offer to sell it back to them at melt. If neither come thru, sell it and keep 100% of the proceeds.
