I took a small coil on why I am underneath these trees branches that go to the ground is because one of the come summer those leaves and everything else you cannot get in there. I’ll pull the coin I don’t know what it is I poured water on it but I don’t wanna ruin it and the date says 1760 if anybody has some clues while it’s dirty I’d love to hear it if not I’m gonna clean it up. Even now I have to ask what’s the best way she’ll clean the silver thank you 63382414763__853A10C4-E9F7-4DD7-92D5-101FC9F43F20.webp

Should I wait until my Andreas pencils come in I’ll order them because I want to get all the crud off of that US battle of 1812 foot image-2021-01-31-17:12:56-488.webp

A Reales perhaps? Similar pattern?

Globe and pillars reale but can't tell the denomination without a size reference. Nice find!

How big is it?
It's a Reale though don't have any more than that-but a huge congrats.

Looks like it has a crud on it as what salt would do, not sure on your soils down there.
Blak Bart might be able to help you out in the cleaning up Truth.

I can’t see what is on the opposite side of the wall but it is the same size as a reales that I have.

I’m leaning towards a 2 real which would make that my first two riyals and my oldest coin. Please correct me if I’m wrongimage-2021-01-31-18:15:14-569.webp

Spanish Real; very nice find but based on the edge crumbling it may be a contemporary counterfeit made of pewter. I found a similar counterfeit last year and I suspect that there were quite a few in circulation during the 18th century.

The above one is dated 1764, but the ground wasn't very kind to it. Finding counterfeits is pretty awesome because of the history associated, but then again finding chunks of 18th century silver is pretty awesome too! :laughing7:

How would you recommend me cleaning it?

SWEET FIND!!!!:notworthy:

It’s deafly not silver which I believe all reals are so yes it could be a pewter counterfeit

On detailed pewter like that I usually use the brush from Andre's pencil set, but it's tricky because flaking pewter can disintegrate really easily even with the lightest of touch. You have a ton of detail already on the side with the pillars and globes so I would start slowly on the rougher side with the seal and see how the pewter responds. If the pewter starts to flake off then there's nothing to be done besides sealing it with glue, but if it's solid then the pewter tends to respond really well and the contrast between the smoothed pewter on the raised details and the rougher pewter in the crevasses gives the relic great eye appeal.

That's some really skilled counterfeiting work; someone back in the day knew what they were doing! Super cool piece!

Hey pal I’m waiting on my Andre’s pencil set to come in as we speak. I just never used them before I might have to PM you to walk me through it if you don’t mind
