I take my hat off to the great people who took the time and ammunition to the meeting.
I did make it as far as Salem, OR for the meeting there on the new 700-J Dredge permit comment period. JimAK, Redpaw, QuilomeneJohn, Tom Quintell,(from Bohemia Mining Dist) Joe Green,(retired EPA scientist)Justin and his new bride and several others brought a LOT of information to the DEQ who was running the meeting for Department of State Lands. If DEQ follows even a small part of the recommended changes it will be of great benefit to the Oregon miners.
There are still TWO meetings left to convey your ideas and comments. The next one is in Grants pass on Feb. 3rd at 5:00pm
Anne Basker Auditorium
604 NW 6th St
Grants Pass, Oregon

and

Febuary 3 2005
5:00 PM
Baker City Hall
1655 First Street
Baker City Oregon

The more people we can get to these meetings, the more say we have in what is going on. Let these people (DEQ & DSL) see that we are tired of all the feel good nonsense they have been offering.

Any government that conducts itself under a constitution and the 'rule of law' can be loosely labelled a republic. In the Greek language, the Greek political terms for constitution, politics, government, city, citizen, state all have the same root word and thus the confusion. There can be a constitutional monarchy, a consitutional aristocracy, a constitutional democracy. Since the Greek word constitution has been translated as "Republic" one sees the term "democratic republic" meaning a constitutional democracy but really the terms "republic" and "democracy" should not be confused with each other.
