Got permission from the Mayor himself, to detect anywhere in the city. :o I had my eyes on a some older property where the houses (30's-40's) were being moved out. Someone had told me the mayor owned it, but come to find out he didn't. But, told me it shouldn't be any problem since the company that owned it was about 2 1/2 hours away. So, I headed over there for a short MDing session, less time since I had an appointment in another town. While there I met a guy, who worked for that company, he told me it was best to MD the yard where one of the houses was jacked up to be moved since they had not bulldozed the yard, and hauled off the excess dirt. Left for my appointment, came back @ 1:00 MDed just the driveway and found all the clad (34 coins =$1.27). Hey, that's pretty dang good for me...the most ever I've found in 3 hours. 8) Found the gold colored car...no clue to the make or model, Strawberry Festival Doubloon, a marble & the old screw top bottle & the connector. I ran the Ace in the coin mode only, now when I go back I have to use the jewelry mode. Too much other metals crushed in the soil to run in all metal mode. Now, I need to take 2 Advil's, a long soak in a hot tub of water & off to bed. Man, I'm aching. :(

Way to go! I'll bet there's more to be found once you get limbered up.

Great job.......love the digger

RR, don't get yourself down.....we've got to make sure you get to the CTH without any aches and pains!......well, we'll accept a few....LOL

Nice going RR. Be sure and go back after the house is moved and before the ground is dozed. No telling what may be under it and you don't have to worry about spiders. ;)

Yikes! Get rid of that "digger" and get a straight edge knive or digging tool. Eventually you'll end up damaging a nice coin with that tool since you have to use it sort of like a hammer. The digging tools like the "Gator" which I use aren't the greatest thing either since they tend to bend fairly easy. If you have an army/navy surplus store around the area see if you can find a short 8 inch bayonet or something similar. With the force you have to use with your hand pick eventually you'll end up cutting into a nice ring or coin. ...Just a suggestion. As far as finding thing it looks like you've got that covered pretty good. You're starting to find more it looks like and I'd guess you are sort of getting used to your detector. It won't be long before you end up finding some real nice coin or jewelry piece. One of the nice surprises of using a metal detector is that you never know what you'll find or where. I feel some nice finds heading your way. Keep at it and best of luck. I like hunting in the open fields and demo'ed house sites. A small camping shovel can be used without destroying someone's grass and makes the digging quicker and easier. If you have loose soil a sand scoop might come in handy. I used mine for the first time last month at a beach in California and was really happy with how it filtered the loose sand and most of the time my target was right in the scoop.

Thanks for all your suggestions. :-* Here's a better pic of my "digger"...it's not like a pickaxe as the 1st pic makes it look...it's called "hoe/cultivator", I liked it so much I bought a 2nd one. :D I have all sorts of digging implements...the "Mighty AP" digger, Friskars digger, a bayonet, survivor's knife, military folding shovel and a big old kitchen butcher knife. Anything that eases the difficulty of digging, I have a tool to make it easier. Even a backhoe if it is necessary. ;D ;D

RR, I feel your pain today! My shoulders are reminding me of yesterday everytime I hit a key on the key board :D. Great day out for you, that's allot of coins what are the date ranges?

So when are they going to move the house? You will be there right after it leaves won't you?

Good luck with the site!

WOW, that's great when it turns out like that.

Very nice token and I always like marbles.

With an arsenal like that RR there's nothing in the ground you CAN'T get at....Nice dig's and a marble to boot....HH!!

Sorry, I understand you digging situation now and it does sound like your ready to dig anything at anytime. I like the marble too!

congrats on the finds ! when you heal up i hope you get over there again sounds like a good spot ;)

i hear you with the Advil and long soak. I haven't been able to get out all week, and last week was pretty much the same, all my little chicks have been bouncing strep throat around and I have had the youngest home with a fever for 2 days.

I am climbing the walls myself right about now so if I had an invitation like you did I would make sure to over do it too.

Way to go, Judie! Nice marble, coins, and token! :)

Hey RR.......Doesn't get any better than that!!!! Just make sure you fill in those holes, and you will be digging forever! lol Best of luck in your adventures.

I'm sure you'll do well!! :)
