Someone is asking me what era this (see pic) is from, and I personally am not sure. Can someone help?

Thanks,
Jeff
Being from a big tobacco state as you are there in VA, and my family grew some, my first thought was a tobacco spike. After looking at a few on line it's possible but doubtful. Sure looks utilitarian. Nice find whatever it turns out to be. I'm pulling for a military function at this point.

I don't think that's a knife. Is it sharp along one or both edges? What's the hole-like circle near the base?

That perfectly round hole looks machine-made. That could mean it's from the late 19th - 20th century. My bet is part of some sort of farming implement like a blade from a crop cutter. Conversely it could be an Iron Age spear point, I'm no expert.

first thought When I Only saw Part was 21st Century
Toy for Playing Ninja or decorative Ninja Wall Hanging .:tongue3:
clicking on and seeing the whole thing, and patina I see it's bit older and
not fancy enough. I have to agree not a knife,
but looks like it has a place for a pole. I'm guessing spear of some type, or like UnderMiner, part of a farmers field piece
the partial hole may be to lock it in place pointing down,
or forward

Looks pretty uniform and well made. I’d like to see some more pictures of the socket.
