I was chatting with Siwash and he wanted to see some glacial till flint. Here are two pieces of the grey/tan stuff. Some of the largest I've ever found. The grey one is about 6", the other 4 1/2". All my other samples are outdoors under snow right now. Ask to see them next spring!

I made this frame of points entirely from the local glacial material found along the river near my house. I'd find a couple usable pieces every time I hunted. It took quite a while to get enough for this frame. The longest point is 2 3/4". 1 1/2"- 2" is most common. Any thing red or orange or pink was heated by me. Plenty of small nodules for triangle arrow points. The local Woodland and Mississippian Indians made small points from this stuff just like me. Locals find points made from what they think is exotic imported flint but it's actually from the till. That's why I put this frame together. To see just what is out there. Gary

Why on earth did you ever stop knapping ?

Pain. After 22 years my shoulder, elbow, and wrist gave out. I dearly wish I could still knap. Luckily, unlike most knappers, I didn't sell everything I made. I have about 500 points I made on the wall. Good memories. Gary

Here are two loose glacial till points I made. The material for these is very similar to the two cobbles I posted. Gary
