The other side will tell the emperor it was minted under. The side you show is the mint. Although I'm not familiar with Chinese mints, a google search will tell you where this was minted.

Chinese coin - great find!
Yeah the obverse of the coin will give you more info-you want the Dynasty for a period of time it was in circulation.
Finding these coins are kinda rare here in the States as the Chinese were heavily persecuted and fewer in numbers compared to the Anglo American population

I believe your coin was minted under the emperor Jiaqing between the years 1796- 1820. Do a google search for Chinese reign marks on cash coins, specifically Jiaquing, to confirm.

Like stated it is a 嘉庆通宝 jiaqing tongbao.

If authentic, it is unique because minting location of zhejiang.

1. The 嘉 jia character is know as 大吉 da ji (big ji). The 吉 ji part of the character 嘉 is biggest size. If you look at other coin examples the 吉 is middle size or small size.

2. 通 tong: it’s called 方头通 (fang tou tong) translates into square head tong. The script top looks flat and square (circled)

3. the 慶 qing looks to be standard 普通版
