Might be a bit off topic, but if you ever find one of these you might have quite a find. Hasn't changed much since then. Just the addition of a barb--which was probably the equivalent of the invention of stirrups, and the eye is now enclosed. Makes me think that there was probably a special not used to tie on to it.

And used to fish for sharks, too! The technique must have been interesting.
