Anyone know anything about nails...as in- Hand-wrought vs machined? I found these today in the Walney area of Va. The area was trash free, so I went with full relic mode. No disc. and full sensitivity.
The Walney area has an extensive history, staring as a farm run by blacks and seeing the retreat of the Union.
The stuff I dug is old, but not Civil War, but old.
Can anyone identify the iron bolt, with it's weird mushroom shape and tell me if these nails look hand wrought?
Oh, and I found a few horse shoes, one seems to have nails with irregular heads still sticking out, the other looks beaten, like you can see the pock-marks from the making of it.

Carriage bolt, you say. Sweet. And the middle nail has that square bottom, making it a horseshoe nail? Makes sense. Thanks.
I know the iron stuff is mundane, but it makes me happy.
