Found this last night in hanover va in an area where othercivil war artifacts have been recovered.... anybody seen one like this? Very decayed and rusted but you can see a line running through where the top joins the blade. About 3/8 to 1/2 in thickness along top anf very thin at bottom where blade is. The bottom of handle has about a half inch 90 degree bend to left which seemed to serve for better grip.

looks like part of a scythe blade.
It does look like a scythe blade. If it is what I am thinking,,,, the blade (the longer flat piece) should be slightly off from the 90 degree nub at the end were the handle would be mounted. The blade and the 90 degree angle would not be in a straight line. So when your standing there holding the tool the blade would be parallel with the ground. If that makes sense. Or It could be something totally else?

It does look like a draw knife! good call! Then that would mean the blade would be in line with the 90 degree handle mounting point. At least the ones I have seen.

It does look similar to some of the bone saws on E-bay just google antique bone saws.

Can you see any evidence of teeth? Maybe a close-up photo with a better background color?
