Is this man made? It is in the Jacksonville area and it is only like this in this one spot. The surrounding area is just mud banks. I have been here quite a few times but the tide was REALLY low and noticed this. It just looked way to uniform to be natural and it was double layered.

thoughts?

Primitive 'board walk' for possible small craft landing? Looks like time to do some historical research. Any historical maps available for the area?

Its manmade. Just not old at all. Been there since mid 1980s. I know that creek quite well.

I cannot find any info or anything about this. Cant imagine what it was used for in the 1980's? Seems like a shi*load of mud to be 30 years old haha logging platform maybe then?

Looks like a fish trap to me. Perhaps even an old one. Maybe Native American or even prehistoric.

It was some marsh snail study. This is a tidal creek in saltwater fellas. I guess to some that makes it look prehistoric. Unfortunately I saw it bright shiny new in the 1980s. And also its pine.

Come on guys, this started out as a good shipwreck thread. It now looks ridiculous and has nothing to do with shipwrecks.

Well then, if it was never about shipwrecks. Then it shouldn't be in the shipwrecks thread.
It was posted here because op thought it might be related..

The topic Starter asked and apparently it got pretty definitively answered. I'll unsubscribe and move on. Goodnight all!

Haha - I posted it on here because everyone that lurks the shipwreck threads is super knowledgeable and I knew some people lived in the area as well. Before trying to research for hundreds of hours - thought I would post on here and ask; albeit maybe not related to shipwrecks.

solid identify too - knew EXACTLY where it was.
