I found this tiny child’s ring with the inscription “pebble” on it
I’m thinking it might be a low carat gold But I’m not quite sure. The 10 karat acid I have dissolved quickly, on the touchdown. I applied a 10 carat as it directly to the peace and it has a very intriguing pattern. There is no hallmark, the ring looks very old. Does anybody have any experience with any rings that look like this? 80F943E7-DFA3-46C5-AA3F-87AA23C5382D.jpeg 3A5DD9E0-9EE5-4DAB-951E-8E506ECA5019.jpeg F381D92C-CD2B-482D-99A7-924C4D20BED6.jpeg

I haven’t seen one like it but it does have the look of gold. Some older rings are 9 karat and this does look to have some age to it. Plus I have never seen an engraved plated ring.

Was it exactly that color when it came out, no cleaning?

No, the engraved area has not been cleaned. The other areas have had the 10k acid applied to it.

I have found a lot of engraved plated rings in my time - the engraving looks like it was done with a dremel tool possibly - it does not look that old
this is from a guy that has found close to over 1000 gold rings in over 40+ yrs of hunting
it could be 9k - i have found like 5 9ks in my time - i also found a ring that was 8k and a cross marked 8k/925
9k tends to discolor depending what kind of soil/water it is found
9k can take on a coppery color and will turn green some times like a lated ring does if in the ground/ water long enough
that outside pattern looks suspicious

It looks to me like the letters were cut with a pantograph machine. Gary

The pattern is what gets me curious, it's uniform on the entire piece including the inside. Most likely with a dremel tool as the engraving is quite lite. This was found in a sand filled playground with a higher retention of moisture due to its position relative to the morning sun. Sure is a neat little ring. Glad to save it. Did you ever find any that were without hallmark?

It doesn't appear to be cut with a rotary tool such as a Dremel due to the ridges that have been pushed up along edges of the entire letter pattern. It appears to have been scribed/carved in which explains the deformation of material, rather then cutting of material as would be achieved with a high speed rotary tool with a carbide or HSS(high speed steel) bit.
