I would start at the front porch, and in a grid pattern, work my way down to the pine trees by the person's head. Then move to the back yard starting at the house working out. Then go and do each of the side yards. Add fresh batteries (just being funny) and repeat all grids from the opposite direction you worked them from the first time ! That looks like a great place to be, and you don't want to miss anything.
As tempting as it is to run up by the house and start, I always like to start away and work my way towards the house. Personally, it gets me tuned into the ground conditions for a particular site and I think its easier to pick out the good targets once you get close to the house where there is a lot of iron/trash in the mix. I'll usually start at about 75 yards from the house and work towards it, sometimes I'll even go 100-125 yards or further, just depends on how things are going and what I'm finding. I've located many outbuilding sites, fence lines, horse/wagon trails with this approach. I'd say that 9 out of my top 10 best finds were in the 40-70 yard range from an old stone foundation. People didn't sit around the house back then, they were out on their property homesteading/getting dinner/surviving, etc...
However, I'm still human so sometimes I'll run up to an old stone foundation more excited than a fly on a turd and start swinging and zigzagging like its my first time out. I might pull a button or musket ball, but then I'll gather myself and put a plan together. I'd hit every inch in the picture you posted.
That looks like an amazing site for sure. Is it an open permission? Might take a while to get it all searched. I would certainly get myself some utility flags and start a grid search to cover every inch.

Yes open permission.
A good friend just purchased the place, she had never seen metal detecting before, in five minutes she turned into a metal detecting demon! I thought the trash might slow her down but no. Had to convince her to stop digging a hole as there was no longer a signal with the pin pointer. If not she would still be digging and halfway to China.
Glad we didn’t have a backhoe close by or she would have been on it! [emoji23]
Fantastic piece of property to hunt! Search in areas, driveway, old trees, house, privy, their dump site and the area where they farmed if accessible...etc. Take your time and enjoy the experience.
