It Must Have Been "Girl's Day" at the Park.

Love this weather on the East Coast! Got out to the park yesterday for some worm murdering.
Ladies items seemed to be the theme for the day.
Found a couple of skirt weights. A silver thimble ,marked Ellen , on the back theres a little number 10 imprinted.
Also found a top to a makeup compact it reads Deere....the Reichas???..NY....Gotta clean it better.
No coins yesterday , but made up for that this afternoon. Found a couple of oldies. Will post up later.

Good Luck , Have Fun

JIM

Cool finds, I have yet to find a thimble, my buddy has a jar full, The button thing is a collar weight that was sewn into clothing to keep it down

I think they were used, among other things, as a skirt weight , sewn in the hem to keep it from blowing up in the wind . And used as curtain weights.

Thanks for the info Stoney. :D

Nice old thimble.

I found the same compact in my wife's grandmothers yard a few yrs back. The house was built in 1910. I thought there was a coin inside when I found it.

Got it opened up to find a disc a small circle mirror inside. Thought maybe a half.
