Hi all,
I hunted two Sundays ago in the snow. Not a fun hunt since the snow was sticking to the coil plus my pinpointer died.
I hunted one of my field sites where I'd never found an old coin, just modern stuff. I know there was a house there at least back to the 1870's, so I like to keep hunting until I find at least one old coin or relic. I managed a nice smaller crotal bell that day. I love those, being such a bygone era thing.
Fast forward to the following Sunday and the snow was gone and temps reached 50. It felt like spring! Armed with a replacement pinpointer, I decided to go back to the same field. I found a few more clad coins, a couple on the surface which always seems crazy. Finally dug an 1891 IH, not my crispest IH but still a nice greenie. Last, pulled another crotal, my third from the field.
I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving!

p.s. Later I stuck a crotal bell in each of my fleece jacket pockets like ffd does. I've been jingling all around the house. My one daughter asked the other day, "How long do you plan to keep those bells in your pockets?" I said, "Oh, maybe until Christmas?" She replied, "Are you serious?"
things were rather bleak on the first hunt

big muddy - hunt 2

any idea on the thing at the top? some kind of valve?

1891 IH

jingle all the way!
