How is life TH ?
You seem to know a bunch about arrowheads.
Is it typical for chert to naturally chip into a triangle shape ?
I ask because I found an ancient stream on our property.
I am a half mile from the Muskegon river in northern Michigan.
Along what would have been the banks of said stream, I am finding lots of chert that looks shaped.
I imagine that I can learn most of what I want from TNet's old posts.

I wonder if young people see Treasurenet for the treasure it is in itself.

Post a few pieces and let us look, and yes they will, see them here and I saw thousands of triangle-shaped stones that were just rocks when I hunted in Missouri.

I think I will use one of my tectors tomorrow.
Raining a little bit and that increases soil conductivity.

Anyone ever donated land for conservation ?
Considering doing that.
That or split the house site onto a single acre and get some farm animals and put the other 16.9 acres as agriculture.
Big tax savings.
Gotta plan ahead and unstick myself from what should just stay in the past...the past.

You need to check out the comments on my hammerhead video.....I can't believe I havnt got in trouble....im absolutely destroying the haters who make mean comments!! The more back and forth the more views.....I have no mercy on these haters !! One woman had to make an account so she could confront my bullying attitude....I roasted her over the coals !!

Check zoning ordinances for livestock required acreage.
Homestead rates shouldn't be bad on all 17+.
Non homestead area kick in the groin.

Leasing to a farmer to grow a crop might be a way to offset taxes.
A friend used to do that.

South of you , I'm about ten minutes from the Muskegon river.
There are mounds in the area I stay clear of but some relics have turned up below them for an old Indian now gone..
Spring flooding dumps so much silt and sediment , combined with forest duff creating loam over time eyeball finds except for eroded areas are not likely for me.
And I have checked creeks and gravel bars.
One year I located a trap still set (but rusted to no use) that was about 3 foot below ground level in a washed out bank.
Approximate 1920-1940 era. That is a lot of soil/sediment deposited!

Chert fragments from poor quality chert along the river are almost a sure bet.
The better chert came from Saginaw Bay area farther East.

Reading old archeological books told of the mounds investigated near me by a college. Not burial mounds.
Of great interest to me was the finding of a variety of worked lithics from varied styles. Together in a hearth below (downstream) the former 30 miles of rapids in one of the near the tailout's mounds.

Interesting because of the variety in the same context. Not layered over time , but together.
And downstate where two rivers split a former palisade (well a log wall anyways) had similar mixed styles of worked material.
Things like turkeytail heads were not local styles.
Hinting to my inexperience in such matters that perhaps there was a ceremonial alliance of sorts going on along the river routes among a few groups.

I think I will contact the Ottawa tribe and see if they have a historian who can come out and verify the site.
That'll be the end of my campground plans.
There are mounds I believe.
Someone told me those are because this is flood plain here.
I don't know.
I read a bit today about telling the difference between naturally chipped and man chipped material.
80% of the stuff I keep finding along the driveway are man manipulated.

As for zoning, everyone around here has some sort of farm animal.
The county is unzoned and the township.

I love it here.
I need to get it back to pre-tornado condition.
Still losing trees every time we get a day with 30mph+ wind.
Lost another 20 trees or so in the last week.
Don't know about the back half..too hard to get through the center of the property.
The whole center came down.
Which is actually fine by us as we wanted space for a large food plot and some of the biggest trees out there were very, very large rotting out Poplar trees...aka gopher wood..😂
They came down and took everything else around them out in domino fashion.

I bet the neighbor is regretting not helping me remove them when I asked for his help with them.
If he had, he wouldn't have lost very many trees as our trees knocked down by wind and the big dead trees are what caused his trees to come down.
It sucks.
For all of us in this area.
It sucks for the miles of state forest it flattened.
It really sucked for the wildlife!
The loss of wildlife must have been quite high.
Didn't hear any barred owls all the rest of last fall and winter.
No turkeys were seen after.
The Pilated woodpeckers took it hard.
Down to 2 sets around our house.
40 or more before the tornado.
It makes me sad.
