Good day everyone, it’s been a good while since I posted anything. When out for a quick hunt at a new spot and dug this coin. Pretty sure a half penny, and I think I can make out 1734 (maybe). Definitely 17** something. It is slightly larger than a quarter. I haven’t found an 1800’s coin yet and just skipped right past that. I know the pictures my not be the best, but any insight as to what it may be would be greatly appreciated. I have it soaking in olive oil right now to see if anything becomes more legible.

My guess is a George I half penny, but I am not great at IDs. Congrats on the nice find.
After looking into it further after your guess, I think your right! The George I bust faced right, while the George II faced left. Minted up to 1724 from what I read. And after further squinting, I think I can make out 172*. This is my first old copper so I had no idea where to even start! Thanks!

Only asking because I have no idea, haha, but what is ‘dump’ coinage?
Strictly speaking the dump issue is the 1717 because:
'' The farthings struck in 1717 were smaller and thicker than the 1714 coins, with a diameter of 20–21 millimetres, and they are known as "dump" farthings''
ie. it was dumpier (smaller)
However, the later 1719-24 which are a little bigger again, sometimes get called Dump.
