Hi everyone,
Been reading a ton about the coils and performance on this thread. A lot has been said in the positive on the 5x8 in terms of weight (Lightweight), balance and better separation.
I have only used the stock coil for the last year to really get to know the machine.
As far as tones and separation is concerned, will I be listening for different patterns than the stock 8x11?
Can't wait to get out this weekend and give her a try!

Not so much listening for anything different just easier to separate in higher trash areas. Now you should be able to pic up a good signal easier in a higher trash area since your coil has less coverage area. Less masking of good targets.

I've been thinking really hard about buying one of these coils for my AT Pro also. Let us know what you think

I swear by the 5x8 coil. I rarely use anything else.

The 5x8 coil is perfect for the at pro it is very lightweight and I also never take it off.

Went out with the 5x8 today. WOW! I can swing this baby all day long! Much lighter than the stock coil.
I could tell that the separation between targets was very clear, almost divided if you will.
Today I hunted with Pro 0, 35 Disc and IA off. (I usually hunt in pro coin, with IA on).
Wind was really high today, trees blown over and power lines down, but to no avail I unveiled some cool things.

Congrats on the new coil. It was my favorite one on the ATP.
I also never took it off.
Same sounds as the larger coil and plenty deep!

I have only been using the at pro for two months but have used both coils on familiar ground and cant see a lot of difference on depth. The small coil is much more comfortable to use and the target separation is great. Yesterday I was in an open field that had a lot of dead heavy grass clots and some brush, the small coil was much easier to work in this environment and I was able to keep it closer to the ground. I am still learning and comparing these two coils but am leaning toward the 5x8 for most use.
