Went out yesterday for a little bit before todays hard freeze. Nothing much found but here it is.

This was a surface find, found it sitting on an old tree stump. I’m guessing from a draught horse.

Found two of these, not sure what it came off of. The other was the reverse shape of this one but I broke it in half tapping it against a tree to remove dirt. Lesson learned there.

Thank you for sharing your finds. People on this site are helpful, so somebody will likely tell you what that decorative piece in second picture is. I cannot think of the name right now, but believe it is a decorative piece for a building or home. But do not take that to the bank.

Thanks for the reply. I found that decorative piece at a place where I know there used to be a house according to early 1900s plat books. But traces of the house are very little, a few bricks here and there and some stone block. Some nails athough I haven’t been searching for iron targets there yet so there could be way more. It would be cool to find it came from part of the house

That is a big shoe! I've seen old andirons with decorative cast pieces like that, and there would be a left and right version.
The more I look at old andirons I can definitely see these being pieces to an old fireplace andiron. Here’s a pic of both sides, just the top of the left broke off but I fit it back together for the picture. Note the squared notches on the top of pieces, I’m thinking the vertical bars went there that kept wood from rolling out of the fireplace
