Found a KG III halfpenny today! It was 8 inches down and it's in decent shape. The weird thing is that it doesn't seem to have the same design as another KG III I found last year. Are there two varieties of this coin? The shoulders seem different to me. Also, the one I found today is 26 mm and the other one is 28 mm. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a couple of pics. The coin on the left is the one I found today.

It's far more unlikely than likely to dig the same one twice.

Its far more likely they are both counterfiets & these by their nature varied more than the Regal.

Are you saying that the colonists were counterfeiting British coins on a regular basis? That's a pretty strong accusation! We would never do that! LOL!

What other metal was added to the copper to make counterfeits? My KG III's ring up as dimes on my Ace 250, while my LC's ring up as quarters. Don't know if that means anything, since the LC's are twice as thick as the KG III's.

They were but not nearly on the same level. Machin's mills and various other ones. Anything thought to have been created in America has some special interest.... struck coins, not cast.
