We had another thread going about Lake Mead but the mods had to shut it down when the discussion got political. I reviewed on Wikipedia the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) project that began in 1933 and how it evolved over the last 90 years. A great example of how a successful project can be a success beyond original expectations.

I wonder if a group of colleges, now using computer simulations could build a model of water reclamation from the Midwest (Mississippi River area) westward to Lake Mead.

Three colleges come to mind as a start: University of Missouri, University of Colorado (School of Mines) and the University of Nevada. They could add other schools as necessary and try to take in to account all necessary considerations such as environmental, engineering, etc.

Read the TVA story it's about 10 pages and it makes a great case study. The colleges could make this a great school project.

Big story today about flash flooding in St. Louis from 10-11" of rain.
Another story about Lake Mead water level still dropping.

Someone needs to connect the dots.

I've read recently that it never has been an Evaportation problem with heat that drys up the two lake , but the SILT that has come down from the Rockys and other places on its way to the ocean (which it doesn't make some years) is holding soooo much water that it can't evaporate when covered with multiple acres of actually water above. Sucking it dry from the BOTTOM with massive silts deposits
