I would Guess since Gold coins were Valued at $1.00 worth of Gold was in a $1.00 Gold Coin
Etc

And $1.00 a coin worth of Gold is now worth $88.09

again just a Guess but $88.09 x $675 = $59,460.75 in Gold Weight minimum ?

minus collector value of course which may put it in the 7 figure range

it would depend I found some 2.5 dollar 1800s gold pieces years ago while detecting one of them was evaluated to be worth 10k-18k others were valued at any where between $120-$6 or $700 each I found a total of twelve in one spot with many other coins in one spot in a box under neath a house
if there is any of those that are rare and evaluated and given a good grade there is no telling melt value who knows

Yep, almost makes you think perhaps someone had been holding the coins for many years then 1933 comes along and the Fed outlaws the ownership of gold coins. No doubt many people panicked and hid thier coins. Perhaps someone hid this stash simply to keep it away from Uncle Sam. Given how easily it was found by a child, it may have only been hidden for a few years - and not as far back as the newest coin of 1906.

I actually had to report my find on my taxes that year because my wife worked for the IRS so we claimed them as income

Undoubtedly, there are probably many stashes from people who hid their gold during the Great Depression. Only problem these days is what may have once been a well-known stash beneath a boulder by a creek may now be beneath a Taco Bell parking lot.
