🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Large Silver Ring - 19th Century?

Found this really large silver ring at the bottom of a Massachusetts Lake. I have found everything underwater here from the late 18th century to present. This bugger was buried in 9 inches of muck. There is no writing on the ring other than the script C. As much as I would have liked to have seen writing, the second picture shows numerous scratches; no idea how they got there. So, could this ring have been from the 1800s considering the style of writing and the style of the ring? Or it could be something modern. As a PS, it came out of the water jet black; are use silver cleaner and elbow grease to get her shiny.

Very nice old ring, certainly has some age to it looking at the same features as you stated.
The inside band scratches are strange, almost looks like a deliberate attempt of scratching something off.
Maybe another name or something that the original owner didn't want to see any longer.

Cool ring! Going by the wear it was old when it was lost! Early 1900?

Looks like it was well worn and dearly missed after falling from its wearers finger. I think it's from late 19th century into the early 20th.

It might have been worn on a chain which can cause similar scratches.....usually on the narrow side by the joint though.

Hmm, interesting, but I'm having a tough time seeing that. Not saying you're wrong, but this ring is quite symmetrical and all of the other spoon rings I have seen and found are asymmetrical.

There is a story to those scratches inside the ring. To me looks like it was a gift from a lover with initial in it that were later scratched over. Suggesting a fall out. It may have then been tossed in the water or lost.
