These are my last couple hunt finds, minus the very last hunt with trapperman27 where I only found a wheat penny not pictured but had a great time and seen some nice old spots that looked really good as there are lots of old stuff around his place waiting to be detected. Hopefully he might invite me again if he gets permission and Jake his dog was great too. HH

Very nice Wingmaster. I see you're getting out a little bit more. I haven't touched a 2 center yet either. So what's the story on the token?

I guess it was proof of insurance with your policy number on it when they started offering insurance on weekly payment plans they started the program sometime in 1889 I guess and it was supposed to be a fireproof coin token. All I could find was one on a token site without any info but if you go to the what is it section in this forum someone found or already knew of the article about it. HH

Where I found these is a place I've told myself not to go back after a few times empty handed, then go back because I've got no where good to go with a couple hours but the easy targets are all gone so you have to get in the thick stuff and even try to find places not easy to swing so you get some and there always pretty old. I keep going back because there all old and just one really nice old gold or silver coin would make a great time for me though I've not found any gold coins yet but it places like these I stand the best chance because it's really old and fairly clean except for some iron and will dig everything except iron in a place like this. Lol I've told myself the same thing , but that one coin will always make you come back. About 3 weeks ago I pulled my 1st seated quarter in a spot I worked over said I was done with it image.jpg

The ring was a child's ring, the first one of those I've found and it could be coin silver not sure though. HH

No it's not marked but the sterling was coming from England at one time and it was expensive so it wasn't uncommon to find stuff made from coin silver, I believe even some silver dinnerware was made from coin silver back in the day. I think even Paul Revere was a silversmith back in the day, if I remember right he used some coin silver as well. HH

I do usually but not really any new spots lined up lately due to me working on the house. I'm going to try and get out between projects or when having to wait for something, I might try for some more permission for this fall if I stay on my timeline. HH
