What would it had been used for, kids toy?? Any ideas.

Possibly a Marksman badge/pin for scoring a specific score on the firing range and it may have been given out locally at a private Firing Range.

I think the end of the barrel and its bayonet is missing. My thoughts are that it is a souvenir letter opener, similar to this one:

It does look like that end may have been broken off.

I had one like it when I was maybe 10. I bought it at a church rummage sale.
It was too heavy to be worn and there was no writing to indicate an award unless it might of had a stand
that went missing.
