Lions head ?

A friend found this in a rock house in Eastern Kentucky. We think its ether silver or pewter ..... Any idea what it might be or have been ?

I don't buy door knocker. It's pretty small and doesn't look like it could the knocker ring in its mouth. There are small nail holes on either side. I'm seconding rosette

I first thought it might be part of a door knocker, but after reading some of these post , I don't think it is.

Some sort of drawer pull? I don't see holes where a ring might have been...???

I’ve vote drawer pull, especially if it could have held a ring like lairmo said. My mom had a chest with lion head drawer pulls, and I didn’t know I remembered this until I saw yours, but I distinctly remember flipping those rings up as a kid.
