got a late start this morning, but still wanted to get out for a bit.
with gas prices so high, i decided to hit little San Domingo as its close to home.
so i was up digging along on a hill side for about an hour all trash and hot rocks then i got a good target down 5 or 6 inches and into the red crunchy layer.
the nugget had a lot of cliche on it and i could only see just a spot of gold.
as i gave it a wash, i could hear a vehicle door slam shut
and distant voices. i popped my head up over the hill and saw bill southerns truck and a buggy about 80 yards out.
i was going to stop by and say hi but was not sure if he was training someone and also did not really want to end up on a you tube video.

anyway a nice short hunt and a nice 12 grain nugget.

Looks like you had a great day 😀

We'll be heading down that way in a couple of weeks, my wife started taking advanced oil painting classes and her teacher really wants to get into gold mining and has a spot for us to come check out somewhere over there, so we're planning an excursion with the side by sides for next month to get a look-see to make sure that it's open. I haven't ventured over into the San Domingo area in a couple of years, so it will be fun.

first nugget of the year. had to let the desert dry up a bit before getting out.
nice weather for hunting. this one was about 4 inches deep. sounded like a 22 bullet.
its 4 grains or .25 grams.
Reed, im sure you will have a lot of fun out there. the golds still there but getting harder to find. lots of miners and campers out in the hills,
even on a Monday.

this mornings options were, watch youtube videos of nuggets being dug up or go dig em up myself.
so this small one, .32 gram. still better that a skunk.
makes, 4 for 4 in a worked out patch. i think next week ill try some new ground.

You're lucky you get a chance to detect. I've sure got the itch to get out as well, but the ground is frozen harder than concrete right now up here, so makes the digging downright tough.

Sweet find, and all the best,

Lanny
