I see people MFing off bridges a lot.If what little I know about Michigan is right you got a lot of creeks, streams and such.Assuming it,s legal,I,d seek out local bridges and give it a go as our Brit cousins say.Same for fishing piers, that sort of thing.

I started my magnet fishing adventures with research. I looked at the old plat maps 1876 and newer. Then looked at historic aerial photos. Opened up google maps and compared everything to see where there used to be bridges over the creeks. In some cases, streets over the creeks had been removed revealing a great place to check from the creekbank. Some were safe enough to enter with the metal detector as well. I think there are programs that overlay the old and new for you, but I don't know where to look for that. My system works well for me.
