Great day to dig! The weather was so nice this morning! We went to a permission near where an old military school used to be. We were in some pretty deep woods. We found quite an assortment of shell casings going back to the early 1900s. Also found an odd brass thing with a hole through and a cut down groove. We're thinking gun part but hopefully one of you experts will know. Found a child's coffeepot and a spoon. Also our first class ring!! We are hoping to locate the owner but does not appear to be a local school. Not sure how to proceed. What a weird mix today! I hope you all had a great day as well!!

Good luck on the class ring return. Sometimes they are a challenge and you can not always be successful. Give it your best shot and good luck. 7 of your casings look like they have a groove below the mouth of the cartridge. If that is so then they are military blanks and you can get the year and plant of manufacture from the head stamp on the base. Congratulations on a good hunt, stay safe, good luck and keep swingin.
