LUE MAP THEORY, MAYBE SOME CONTEXT

Thanks RC.
Do you think this is used in the LUE clue, in some way? I can see it's the reverse of IAYAYAM.

I think (ha ha) that if the LUE isn't understood , that it's fair game to treat it as so fragmented as to be a puzzle.

Did I read in one of his books Karl state read between the lines? Or was that a reference to him by someone else?

IF the " puzzle" is attributed to Karl only ...He had much to work with to create one.
Big enough to allow a piece for the low functioning like myself to find a puzzle piece in it.
So here's a #9 piece in my hand. Hand me that mallet! It'll fit.

Karls library would help , maybe.

Hi releventchair.

I was looking through some of the old LUE threads and found one of sdcfia's old posts that mentioned the IAYAYAM key. He wrote that it might stand for an old saying, I Am Yours And You Are Mine. I believe. I Am You And You Are Me, fits the LUE map, as referring to a mirror image. I think that what some people call an eye is a representation of a mirror image with the two crescents showing the mirror image. If it were an eye, the iris and the pupil wouldn't be over the lower eye lid.

I've been looking for a Masonic connection to the LUE map and I found some information in this link that I posted a couple of days ago. http://www.mastermason.com/fmisrael/tb.html

I have theorized that the oblong shape in the upper right quadrant represented a mirror image. These excerpts might explain that symbolism, found on a Tracing Board.

"Inside the Tracing Board., that represents the Lodge, we find — among the other symbols — one of the Tracing Board itself. This is a sort of recursive image very popular among surrealist artists, such as Escher or Magritte. The hand that is drawing itself is one example. [10]

This also makes reference to the images produced by two parallel mirrors, and all the symbols of infinity, such as the Ouroboros, the snake biting its own tail.

The shape of the lodge is rectangular (in some old rituals it is called "an oblong square"). Its symbolic dimensions are: length, East to West; width: North to South, and Height: from the zenith to the center of the earth — some sources extend it to the nadir."

The circle within a circle, inside the oblong shape, could be a recursive image that represents the Tracing Board. Here's the definition of a recursive image.

"Explanation
A recursive image is one that contains a smaller version of itself, often repeated multiple times. The repetition could theoretically continue forever, but in practice it only continues as long as the picture's resolution allows.

Examples
A real-world example of the Droste effect is holding two mirrors up to each other. You'd see an infinite tunnel of reflections of the two mirrors going back and forth."

Also, in describing the Height of the Lodge: from the zenith to the center of the Earth-some sources extend it to the nadir. I'm not too clear on this, but it sounds similar to an "As Above, So Below" image, and that's what I think the two crescents represent.

Here's an excerpt from this link. http://www.mastermason.com/fmisrael/tb.html

"
The axis of the lodge is oriented west to east. The traditional explanation is that sacred buildings are oriented in that way, beginning with the Tabernacle built by Moses in the desert, following with King Solomon's Temple and continuing with synagogues and churches.
However, this begs the question, because then we must ask, why should these buildings be oriented in such way? The probable explanation is that the East, the place where the sun rises every day, was regarded as holy from ancient times. Prehistoric stone monuments, like Stonehenge, are oriented that way.6 The word "oriented" itself means facing the Orient, the East. Whoever is disoriented has lost his bearings. For thousands of years, before the invention of the magnetic compass, the most important, the most significant direction was the East. Many old maps represented the earth with the East at the top, that is, as if the observer were facing the East. This convention survived even as late as 1623, in a map of Terra Sancta by the great cartographer Gerardus Mercator (author of the famous projection to tranfer shapes on a sphere to a flat plane)"

"The lodge rests on three columns, called Wisdom, Strength and Beauty, represented in the Lodge by the Master and the two Wardens. Each one has a small column at hand, reminding his duties. Wisdom directs our actions, strength sustains us in times of danger or stress, and beauty adorns our life and our soul. Some authors identify Beauty with Harmony. The three columns are built in the three styles of Greek architecture: Doric (Strength), Ionic (Wisdom), and Corinthian (Beauty).
The columns also represent the three principal actors in Masonic legends: King Solomon, King Hiram of Tyre and Hiram Abiff, respectively. In more general terms, the three columns represent all ternary symbols. "

"In the T.B. of this degree we find the two great columns that stood before the entrance of the Temple: Yachin (yah-heen) and Boaz (boh-a'hz). According to the Biblical story, they were hollow, cast in bronze, and held large capitals with various ornaments. In Masonic tradition, however, the pillars, or columns, are topped with globes, one representing the earth and the other, the starry canopy of the heavens, or sometimes an armillary sphere. "

"
Jacob's Ladder

Reaching the starry sky is the ladder known as Jacob's Ladder. Let me recount briefly the origin of the story of Jacob's dream. On his way to Paddam Aram, to his uncle Laban, Jacob is tired and spends the night on the road. He takes a stone as his pillow. While dreaming, he sees a stairway reaching the heaven and angels walking up and down. G-d speaks to Jacob, promises to give him and his descendants the land around him, and to make his descendants numerous like the dust of the earth. When he wakes up, Jacob is seized with fear. This is a holy place, he thinks, and the door to heaven. He erects the stone he had used as a pillow and makes an altar of it, and then names the place Bethel, that is, the House of G-d.

In our Board, the stairway is symbolized by a ladder, resting on the altar, which as we now know, in fact represents the stone. The Hebrew word in the Biblical story, Soolam (soolahm), can be interpreted both as stairway and as ladder, and artists have used both meanings in their works

The ladder, or scale, as a symbol, is extremely old, always indicating the connection between the earth and the heavens, the ascent of man striving for perfection. It is symbolically connected with the mountain. Temples were often built on top of a mountain, and in some cultures the temple itself represents a mountain. Some artists have painted Jacob's ladder as a flight of steps on the slope of a mountain. The ladder is also connected with the archetype of the tree, the axis mundi, and the great chain of being

The top of the ladder reaches the heavens, veiled to profane eyes by the clouds of ignorance. In Albrecht Dürer's famous engraving, Melancholia, a ladder is depicted leaning on the building, with the top unseen, [16] possibly extending up to the heavens"

"The Blazing Star is hanging in the geometrical center of the Lodge and from there it irradiates its influence."

The pyramid is mentioned but without much explanation. The same with the point within a circle, although there was mention that the point stood for gold.

"The Point Within a Circle

The center is also a fundamental idea in alchemy. "According to Michael Maier, the center contains the indivisible point which is simple, indestructible, and eternal. Its physical counterpart is gold, which is therefore a symbol of eternity."

lue dot new 700.jpg

"The Ornaments or Furniture

The lodge also has three ornaments: the Indented or Tessellated Border, the Blazing Star, and the Mosaic or Checkered Pavement. Prichard, in his Masonry Dissected (1730), calls them the Furniture of the Lodge. This must not be understood as a reference to chairs and tables, but rather to implements or parts.

The Indented Border is linked to the knotted rope encircling the room, close to the ceiling. It symbolizes the great chain of Fraternity embracing the earth. [20] This First Degree T.B. is one of John Browne's designs, dated 1802. We can see the shape of the rope is leading to the idea of rows of triangles in alternating red and blue color, which in many Tracing Boards replace the rope."

I thought this was interesting because the chain of triangles in the lower right quadrant, could represent the rope. Also, the 24 rectangles in the lower left quadrant, could be the checkerboard pavement.

lue dot new 700.jpg

"The Jewels

The lodge has three "movable jewels" and three "immovable jewels." The movable ones are the Square, Level and Perpendicular or Plumb."

I think the horizontal and vertical double lines, in the upper right quadrant, might be the level and the plumb.

It seems like the LUE map has many elements of a Masonic Tracing Board, but with changes that could give another meaning. Something else that caught my attention, the Tracing Boards that I have found in my research are beautifully painted, I wonder if the original LUE map was painted.

I still have confidence in my interpretation of the LUE map.
The upper right quadrant was used to find latitude.
The vertical column was used to find Longitude.
The bottom right quadrant was used to find two starting points.
The upper left quadrant was used to find compass bearings and alleged treasure locations.

On another note, I sent LUE map pictures to 4 different Masonic Lodges and asked them if the picture was of a Masonic Tracing Board. Two of them answered back and said that it was the LUE map and associated with treasure legends. There must have been other inquiries. They also said that it wasn't a Tracing Board. I plan on sending more pictures, to find out what other lodges say.

Don't look...

Eye is tied to pyramid by a continual thread.
Connected we have an eye atop a pyramid. But a three part pyramid.
All seeing eye? eye of providence?
Three part structure can be a triune God. No I'm not interpreting for Masons.

Eye atop a pyramid? Rays of light? Blocks below?
By following thread and moving eye from right to left to the pyramid ....
(Does that mean the arrow point /tree rocket is facing left?)

This link describes the history of Masonic Tracing Boards.

Of particular interest, that may apply to the LUE map, is the section of the article titled, The Lodge of Emulation. Here's a description from that section, followed by a picture of the LUE map.

The most intriguing of Harris' designs is the second degree board. His partition of the board into two sections. The lower half of the board depicts the principal entrance to the Temple, while the upper section shows the porch-way or entrance to the Middle Temple.

900.jpg

So, the top half of the LUE map would be the porch-way to the Middle Temple and the bottom half would be the Temple entrance.

Here's some more information from the article.

The compass points have been omitted from the borders, possibly, Harris meant the board to be reversed. When the board is viewed with the top toward the east, the staircase starts in the north and the two great pillars, at the main entrance to the Temple, are in the south.

LUE rotated.jpg

I believe this is what is meant when they say put east at the top The stairway starts in the north and the two great pillars are in the south. That little curly line that connects the two center rows of rectangles, I wonder if those two rows represent the two great pillars at the entrance to the Temple.

Here's more information from the article.

If the board is reversed, facing away from the observer, the principal entrance to the Temple, appears to be facing east, and the stairway approaches from the south.

I reversed the LUE map by holding it up to a light. You can see the stairway coming from the south, but not sure about the entrance facing east.

LUE reverse.jpg

So, there may be enough characteristics of Harris' mapping technique to show the LUE map is a variation of a Masonic Tracing Board.

Please comment if you see I'm missing something.

Yeah, now that you mention it Crow, the primary focus of the LUE map is the column, which certainly brings to mind Boaz and Jachin. Steps are also prominent on Masonic aprons. As far as Miller being a spiritual growth advocate, I'm not seeing that as a particularly logical fit. But, quien sabe?
LUE reverse.jpg

This is the mirror image of the LUE map showing east at the top. Last night I posted that I thought the two columns, outside the Great Temple, were the two columns of rectangles, connected by a curly, in the middle of the six rows of rectangles. However, I believe that the two columns in the upper left quadrant, represent Boaz and Jachin. The small triangle that joins them, shows three levels and the Great Temple had a wrap around that consisted of three levels. Also, I believe the small triangle represents a cubit. Both columns were 17.5 cubits high, or 35 cubits, combined. I measured the base of the small triangle and got 3/16 ths of an inch. The columns measure a hair over 3 and 3/16 ths inches, or 51/16 ths. When you divide 51 by 3, you get 17. I think it would be fair to say those two columns represent the two Great Temple columns.

Also, when it was suggested, in the link that I posted last night, to orient east to the top and reverse the map, the author noted that the stairs would then be on the south and the two Great Pillars would be closer to the east. This stumped me until I read that the Temple had three approaches. The main approach was from the east and the other two from the south and north. There was no entrance from the west because that's where the Ark was kept. For some reason, the Masons changed the entrances a quarter turn clockwise, which made the entrances to the east, south and west. So when there was no entrance from the north, it put the two Great Pillars closer to the east entrance.

These descriptions define the LUE map. I would say the LUE map is a Masonic Tracing Board.

Here's the link that I posted last night.

I think the IMYAYAM key is the mirror. When you hold the LUE map facing a mirror and east at the top, it shows you the blueprint for the Tracing Board and the symbols that belong on it.

Nope, everything is on the ground and can be found using common sense.

I'm going to update my posts about Masonic symbolism on the LUE map. I think the evidence will show that the LUE map is a Masonic Tracing Board or a blueprint for one.

This picture shows how the LUE map looks when facing a mirror, with east at the top.

LUE reverse 700.jpg

The mirror image was suggested in this article, in the section titled, The Lodge of Emulation. I believe the two crescents, in the upper right quadrant, call for a mirror image. I also think the mirror image is the IAYAYAM ( I AM YOU AND YOU ARE ME) key that Karl von Mueller mentions in his caption under his picture of the LUE map.

Here's the link that The Lodge of Emulation article is in.

When the board is viewed with the top toward the east, the staircase starts in the north and the two Great Pillars, at the main entrance to the Temple, are in the south.

This shows the normal LUE map with east on top.

LUE rotated.jpg

As you can see, the stairs are in the north, but in the Masonic representation of the Temple, there is no entrance to the north. The image has to be reversed so that the stairs will be in the south.

Here's the mirror image, again.

LUE reverse 700.jpg

The two Great Pillars, Boaz and Jachin, are now in the upper left quadrant and close to the east entrance.

From this point on, refer to the mirror image of the LUE map.

I'm going to post some links followed by excerpts from those links. As you read the excerpts, remember that east is at the top, west is at the bottom, north is to the left and south is to the right.

"Symbolism of the Cardinal Points, North, South, East and West. Mackey uses as an illustration of this the fact that the sun in its summer journey never passes north of 23° 28´, and that a wall built anywhere above that will have its northern side entirely in shadow even when the sun stands at his meridian. As this fact became known to early peoples it led them to look upon the North as the place of darkness.

By token of the same symbolic reasoning the South stands for all that is opposed to the North; in that direction the sun reaches his meridian to pour out light, warmth, and beauty. Accordingly, church builders of old time were wont to depict on the South wall of their churches the triumphs of Christianity, and the millennial reign of Christ. In the lodge the Corinthian column, type of beauty, is placed in the South at the station of the Junior Warden.

As the West is the place of the sun's setting and of the closing of the day it stands for rest, for darkness, and for death.

If there is one symbol that recurs again and again in our Blue Lodge Ritual, like a musical refrain, it is the East; of this I almost despair to speak, save in crudest outline, so rich and so many-sided is the truth enshrined in it. As the centre of gravity is to the earth, and all things thereon, so is the East to a Masonic Lodge; the Master sits there, the representative of a complete humanity; the Blazing Star shines there, the mystic "G" at the centre of the rays; it is the bourne, the goal, the ultimate destination, towards which the whole Craft moves. How it came to have this significance for early societies, as well as for our own may be made clear as we turn our attention to Orientation."

As you can see, on the LUE map, the Sun is in the south.

To the east is the blazing star, represented by the circle within a circle. In earlier posts, I have written that this position on the LUE map is the yellow star Capella, one of the brightest stars in the night sky. I determined this because of its location on the curved line that can be found on a constellation map. There is something to consider, at this location on the curved line. The Sun would be a better fit for the blazing star, because this location on the curve is either at the summer solstice, June 22, or the winter solstice, December 22. But, because of the portrayal of the Sun, in the lower right quadrant of the LUE map, I wasn't sure if the artist would represent the Sun twice on the Tracing Board.

Here's the next link.

"Verse 6: (Here we find a description of the side chambers): "The lowest story was five cubits broad, the middle one was six cubits, and the third was seven cubits broad; for around the house he made offsets on the wall in order that the supporting beams should not be inserted into the walls of the house." The important thing we have to learn from this verse is that the side chambers were three storeys high, of which there is further proof.

Verse 8: "The entrance to the lowest storey was on the south side of the house, and one went up by stairs to the middle storey, and from the middle into the third." The Authorised Version translates "middle chamber" instead of "Lowest storey", "right side" instead of "south side", "winding stairs" instead of "stairs", and "middle chamber" instead of "middle storey". If the next floor above the ground floor was the middle storey, then those side chambers were definitely three storeys high.

"The height of these pillars was seventeen cubits and a half each." Our word "cubit" is derived from the Latin word cubitas, meaning "elbow", because the length of the forearm from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger is the length of a cubit, which on the average man is about 45 centimetres. That makes the pillars about 7.9 metres high.

The kings of Israel were crowned in front of the South Pillar and the priests were anointed in front of the North Pillar.

Both gimmel and gamma have the same sound as the English letter G. Records show that in the early days after the formation of the Grand Lodge of England, when working the Second Degree, it was the custom to place a gallows square over the Blazing Star of Glory in the Centre, but somewhere since the gallows square has evidently been replaced by its English equivalent."

A lot of this will be found in the upper half of the LUE map.

Verse 6 mentions three levels and the small triangle in the upper left quadrant shows three levels. The base of that small rectangle represents a cubit and the triangle is located between the two Great Pillars, Boaz and Jachim. We know that those are the two pillars because each pillar is 17.5 cubits high and there are seventeen small triangle measurements on the line that separates the columns.

In the upper right quadrant, the blazing star is represented by the circle within a circle. In the last excerpt, the author mentions that it was the custom to put a gallows square over the blazing star. On the LUE map you can see the horizontal and vertical lines that represent the gallows square, just above the blazing star.

Here's the next link and the mirror image of the LUE map.

"T.B. stands for Tracing Board.

Inside the T.B., that represents the Lodge, we find — among the other symbols — one of the T.B. itself.

The Pavement represents the physical world, the central part of the Board, including the columns and most of the symbols, represents the psychological world, the Heavens on top of the Board represent the spiritual world and the Glory, represents Divinity.8
The ceiling of the lodge is adorned with stars, generally seven. This is also a favorite number of numerologists, its symbolism is almost as varied as that of the triad."

The pavement can be seen in the lower left quadrant of the LUE map.

The stars could be represented by the two constellation map curves.

"Jacob's Ladder

This episode of the Bible has fired the imagination of numerous artists, who have depicted Jacob's dream is a variety of ways.

Some artists have painted Jacob's ladder as a flight of steps on the slope of a mountain."

The LUE map shows a flight of steps on a slanted line that could represent a mountain slope.

We can see the shape of the rope is leading to the idea of rows of triangles in alternating red and blue color, which in many Tracing Boards replace the rope.

The Checkered Pavement, made of alternating white and black squares, reminds us of all antinomies, the dualities of both the physical and the spiritual world: light and darkness, good and evil, past and future, matter and spirit.

The Blazing Star is hanging in the geometrical center of the Lodge and from there it irradiates its influence"

"The Point within a Circle

On the Altar is inscribed a circle with a point in its center.

This, according to Masonic rituals, represents the bounded space where a Mason cannot go astray. North and south of this circle are two parallel lines, representing the two great Saints John, the Baptist and the Evangelist, who themselves are connected to the two solstices: that in the summer (June 24) with the Baptist, that in winter (December 27) with the Evangelist.

The center is also a fundamental idea in alchemy. "According to Michael Maier, the center contains the indivisible point which is simple, indestructible, and eternal. Its physical counterpart is gold, which is therefore a symbol of eternity."

In the upper left quadrant of the LUE map, to the left of the two Great Pillars, are three triangles, one with a point within a circle. The three larger triangles must represent the alter.

"The Second Degree

The entrance to the lowest floor was on the south side of the temple; a 'lulim' led up to the middle level and from there to the third."

The staircase is traditionally represented with flights of three, five and seven steps, referring to the symbolic ages of the Mason as he ascends from the First to the Third Degree."

You can see there are five steps on the LUE map.

I think the evidence is clear that the LUE map is a Masonic Tracing Board or a blueprint for one.

Here is the LUE map and the caption that Von Mueller wrote below it, in Treasure Hunter's Manual #7.

900.jpg

"The LUE map which will perplex treasure hunters for years to come. Only two people have been able to decipher it and they will never be able to carry away all of the incredible treasures that are revealed by the map. Others will seek and a few will find; and the trovers will be committed to eternal secrecy when they learn the cryptic and shibboleth horde of all hoards, on the American continent. True sign experts will find the ultimate in challenges in this key to a natural Fort Knox. Redrawn exactly from the IAYAYAM Key."

He writes about this drawing like it's the solution of the IAYAYAM key. I think we have two documents in one drawing, the Masonic Tracing Board, which was probably the original document, and the Lue treasure map, which is the mirror image of the Masonic Tracing Board, I Am You And You Are Me, IAYAYAM.

Also, his use of the word "shibboleth" seems clumsy and out of place. This excerpt from a link I posted in my last post, makes it seem like "shibboleth" was part of Masonic ritual, either as the word itself or as a reference to a password.

"The FC is obliged to give the PW and PG to the JW at the foot of the staircase. It is worth elaborating a little, on the Pass Word "shibboleth".

The author of the article goes on to write an explanation of the origin of the word. I can't copy and paste anything in this article, but here's the link and the information is a little more than halfway through the article.

I wonder if it was common knowledge that Von Mueller was a Mason. If not, the word "shibboleth" in the caption, might be a heads up to any Masons reading his book.

LUE.jpg

Here's something you LUE researchers can play around with.

I think you might be able to use Celestial Coordinates to find latitude and longitude on the LUE map. In the upper left quadrant, the points on the top of the steps show Declination (Latitude) and the points on the bottom of the steps show Right Ascension (Longitude). The slanted line under the steps help calculate longitude.

A few days ago, I posted some Masonic information and one of the excerpts mentioned that a gallows was positioned above the Blazing Star, whose position I felt was in the upper right quadrant. I also felt that the Blazing Star was the yellow star Capella. I thought that the vertical and horizontal double lines might represent the gallows. I also felt that the end of the horizontal double line might have been designed to fit into the upper notch, just above it and in the vertical double line. This would show the form of a gallows. I adjusted for the small vertical line and do red lines horizontally and vertically. The intersection above the oblong shape, shows the position of Capella on a Celestial map. Capella's celestial coordinates are, Right Ascension-5 hours 18 minutes and Declination-46 deg 01'.

Something of interest is the Latitude and longitude shown on the steps. The coordinates are close to 44 deg Latitude and 65 deg Longitude.

There are two coordinates that are similar to these, one is at 44 deg 30' N and 64 deg 18' W. These are the coordinates of Oak Island. The other coordinate is at 44 deg 10' N and 68 deg 18' W. This coordinate was part of a hoax about a Captain Kidd treasure.

I thought I would share this information. Draw your own conclusions.
