Making money running garage sales can be very easy to do, if you keep one very important thing in mind. Thats "ALWAYS KEEP AN OPEN MIND'. Thats it. I have bought a 3,500.00 carpet extraction machine at one sale for 20 bucks. Just because the belt on the brush assembly was broken. A simple fix for another 20 bucks. They said it didnt work right and it was as is.
I bought a tackle box full of tackle for 50 bucks and sold off all the old wooden plugs seperately through ebay for , well you dont want to know. another deal was I bought four large boxes of old wooden duck and goose decoys from out of a barn from a nice old lady for 600 dollars. There was about 75 ducks and 15 geese in the boxes, and all in pretty good shape. She said some one offered her 300 dollars, so I doubled it. Made her happy and I made my investment back on just three geese decoys.
One of my best scores was an old couple was selling a bunch of boxes of old misc, stuff. She must of had 50 or 60 boxes all in rows in the front yard. I asked her how much a box of old doll parts were and she said" I want 5 dollars a box". So I bought all the boxes.Loaded the van full. There were three boxes of old german doll heads and hands and feet .I think enough to make maybe 20 or so dolls. I got 250 dollars for just one doll head on ebay.

So in ending this, never be affraid of taking a chance and always have an open mind and the profits will come.....

People overlook so many things at garage sales! We always try to keep an open mind about everything. I just sold an avocado green handled Foley utensil for $20 on ebay---it came out of 25c box at a garage sale.
I've noticed a trend in collecting 1960's/70's stuff here lately, many people my age(late 30's early 40's) are collecting things they remember from their childhood. I bet the next big collectibles will be stuff from the 1980's.
Good post :icon_thumright: , jackragusa.

Last week I found 5 miniature Hummel figurines and a bunch of other stuff a one sale for $10. The Hummels end tonight on ebay, should bring at least $150. About 6 weeks ago I bought a bunch of old UFO newsletters put out by various UFO groups in the 50' and 60's as well as some vintage magazines and a bag full of vintage porn photos and several other items for $35.00. The UFO ephemera brought over $1000.00 after I pieced it out in small lots and i've made a few hundred on the photos so far as i'm still selling them.
I could go on and on about the yardsale and thrift store finds i've sold on Ebay in the last 6 months since I turned it into a parttime job on the weekends. Thinking out of the box? Always. If it seems unusual, you know, something you don't see everyday, I jump at it. My latest finds came from a local thrift store, about 20 pcs or so of Belleek china that I got for half off the $24.99 pricetag (of course I did snatch it up before it even hit the shelf, it pays to be at the right place at the right time  ). I'll see how it ends next Sunday night on Ebay.
Keep on searchin! :headbang:

The best one I ever bought at a garage sale was a whole bunch of HotWheel cars for $2,you know the old storage container that was shaped like a tire, well it was full of mint cars, not a scratch on 'em and the wheels weren't even bent. The lady who was selling them said that her son didn't like playing with them,so she was selling them all.I turned around and sold them to a place here in town for about $200,I've also bought old washer and dryer's for next to nothing and then scrap them. :sign13:

I like hitting garage sales from time to time. You've given me new inspiration to take that 'outside of the box' view of things the next time I go to one.
