Great comment Fletch, thanks for watching. Now that the water is warmer I'll be going out more often.

I can only dream of detecting in surf that calm and clear up here on the north end of FL. The scenery is about the same though!

Fletch, I always check the tides and wind speeds before I head out, most of the time it gets rough down here to.

I've got a question for you and your Excal-

Is it quiet during the hunt and only makes noise over a target, or is there a constant wavering sound and you listen for the difference in the noise?

My Sand Shark and the Infinium both make a lot of noise that I can't get rid of in the salt water- both PI machines.

Sweep the coil and they both sing, and then change tones on the back sweep.

I'm wondering about yours...

at this area of Miami Beach its $1.00 per hour but the closer you get to South Beach it goes up to $1.75 per hour

its a constant hum/buzz mosquito like but if you sweep over iron it will null out or a low growl then you can just leave it like that or move the coil next to your scoop (mines aluminum)

then it goes back to the normal hum. I don't bother any more if I go over iron and just let it growl until I hit a good target. I hope I explained that correctly.

Yes, thanks. I was wondering if it was a steady tone or one that wavers and can 'fool' you into thinking you just went over a target.
