First off, I am new to metal detecting and I would like to say hello to everyone! I dug this strange thing up yesterday and thought it was maybe a tiny bowl with feet, until I cleaned it up and saw the threads. It is about 2.5" in diameter. One friend thought it may be a cap from some kind of Caterpillar machinery, another said a cap for an old mining lantern, and another said it was the lid to an upside down food/drink container. Off hand I don't remember what conductivity it registered when I hit it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Correct on the ID, but I think the "dog-bone" is the type with two little handles off on opposite sides, while this is a "high fin" cap.
