Metal tri-fold wallet?

Okay okay, I admittedly didn't recover this today, but I was hoping someone could help ID this thing. I detected it at an 1890 home site. It is a metal tri -fold, however, I have no idea how it might have been used ? Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Thanks everyone!
