even though I do not own a Equinox 800 I do detect for Gold I always run the 6 inch coils on my VLF detectors when detecting for gold it just makes it much easier to get in and around rocks and bushes

There is also the 9"x5" Coiltek coil for the Equinox that might be appropriate for gold prospecting. But I think the 6" is your best bet. (I've owned all 3 coils - 11", 9x5, 6". I think the 6" was best at finding small items. I have to assume you're not expecting to find large nuggets and are looking for those half-gram ones that can still be found in many places. Good luck!)

I actually run a Legend Detector with the 6 inch coil, for gold detection VLF the one coil I am waiting for Nokta/Macro to come out with is a 9.5x5 inch coil which is in the works just has not arrived as of yet
