Still, it's a better buy to get the 900. It's everything you wanted in an 800 and didn't get.
1100 BUCKS for a 900 , your paying for a red screen & 99 ID range , thats 200 more than a new 800 , my opinion I would snatch up a 800 that hasn't been submerged with low hours like mine , and save some money :dontknow:

I was looking at the 900 and it seems 95% similar to 800. The coil is same but you get an extra small coil. Personally I don't like the red screen too much. The 99 VDI would be nice though. I am looking at the XP Deus 2 vs the Manticore but leaning toward XP Deus2.

Add the telescoping carbon fiber shaft with fully adjustable cam locks, a much more adjustable and sturdier arm rest, the expanded I.D. range, the red back light (which I love for night work), the flashlight, the better water depth rating, slightly better EMI rejection, higher sensitivity setting range, and instant headphone pairing, makes it a no-brainer to me.

The Manticore can see small gold the D2 can't from what I here . If I lived in FLorida , I would want to here all Gold , own a Manticore , not getting a D2 .

Never submerged mine , submerge the Excaliburs only , never submerged my CTX3030 to boot .

I can tell you this Moe , the same head cover that I have for the 800 fits the Manticore , the 99 Id screen is an entire new learning process , as the 800 was dead on the numbers to coins , the red screen to be honest , I would like for night hunting , the Manticore CF shaft is not as tall as my 800 Plugger Cf shaft , weight is about the same , it took ML 6 months to get the NOX extra coils out , the clock is ticking on the Manticore , want both the 8 & 15 inch , happy hunting . Good luck with what ever you get , Earl

I have an out of warranty Eqx 800 and was considering a Noktra Legend as a cheaper water machine to submerge for shallow detecting. One suggestion I have heard for water detecting is selling
the machine as it gets near the end of warranty, and picking up the new one with a fresh warranty, especially since they hold their value pretty well.

Take a look at the Notka Legend, waterproof to 10 feet, solidly built, hundreds less.
