Excalibur for several reason. But maybe the biggest White's has closed...Not sure how much longer you will be covered Warranty wise on the BH TDI.

Yeah I've herd they're going out of business, what other reasons would you pick the excalibur ii? I dont mind not having discrimination, I usually dig everything anyway. I'm mainly concerned with what would be the most stable in saltwater and black sand

Excal against TDI --Im not an Excal fan but would pick Excal
if you are starting out - try and find a Whites used PI Pro for under $500
I killed it with mine - no discrimination though but goes real deep
my friend surprised me and said he's been using his old PI
and he is a big Excal guy but said Fla. spots been sanded in and knows
I did good with mine down there
Ive seen so many guys run out and get a new Excal and then not like water hunting
and it sits in a corner - try and get a good used one and if you like it ... move on up

Zigzag - you know the guy in the middle?
he is from your neck of the woods
he has been using older PI lately instead of his Excal lately - it goes deeper in that
deep sand

I was wondering what your guys opinions were on those two detectors. I'm looking into getting an underwater detector and am going back-and-forth between the 2 I just wanted some other opinions. This would be for beach hunting in florida, in the wet sand and water. Any input is appreciated

That's a bit tough to choose on a new detector these days. With White's out of business, I wouldn't pay anywhere near retail for one of their new machines. Tesoro Sand Shark, same story. Garrett, they still have the Sea Hunter, which would be good bang for the buck on a PI machine. Why they disco'd the Infinium LS is a mystery to me. If you can wait, the new Fisher Impulse AQ is in production, but, who knows when they will be released, and what depth rating they will have. Odds are next spring/summer. That pretty much leaves the Excal and CZ21, both VLF machines. PI machines tend to be slightly deeper and more stable in salt water, but, that's just a very slight advantage IMO. For both in and out of the water, I'd go with the Excal and the mods to make it more user friendly. You say you will "USUALLY" dig everything. With a PI machine (like the Sea Hunter) you WILL have to dig everything if you don't want to miss gold. With the Excal, and it's good discrimination, it's an option. If you're willing to buy used and not get a warranty, you can add a few PI machines to the list. The White's TDI and Dual Field, and the Garrett Infinium LS would make my list even though I'm not a big PI fan. Too much iron junk out there!

I use Fisher CZ21s mostly now - i think any machine out there - if you learn it
you'll do good with it
I was lucky yrs ago to make this comparison
use PI for AM low tide - broke my lower rod - used my CZ20 for PM low
same beach - same user - different machines = pretty close to same results
