I am a new MD'er and love every minute I can get! I am looking at purchasing a newer and better MD. I really want to get the Whites DFX 300. Right now I have the bounty hunter sharp shooter 2. My buddy is finding more than i at least 4 to 1. I need to upgrade. any thoughts.

thanks.
Oh and my best find is an 1906 indian head penny with liberty on the head band.

Paul, I hear good reviews on Garrett's Ace 250 ($300 range). You might look on eBay for some deal. I know a little about various detectors, so if you have any questions, ask.

I have a Garret Ace 250 and love it. Go right to Kellyco.com website and find a package deal. It seems to be a better deal than eBay, in my opinion anyway!

Just an update on my DFX 300 and my buddy who "was" out MDing me 4:1. I am now getting better with my DFX and we had a 3 hour hunt and loser buys dinner. I can proudly say I left my wallet in the car. In 3 hours I pulled out $9.62, one ring, one earing, shell casing. My buddy pulled out $6.43 and some other odd things. When I get home I will try to post my pictures. Just the other day I pulled out 1952 dime, 1912, 1952 and a 1934 wheatie. I will post these as well. The last 4 coins I mentioned were pulled at 6+ inches. Pretty cool.

Oh no Casttech, 4 staples are just fine! I just use 3 staples as shown above for simplicity. I might have 800 coins carded (2"x2") and a few yrs ago I reverted to 3 staples....just a little easier. Now on the 38mm (silver dollar size) 2"x2", 4 staples are needed....at the corners, not on the edges, so that one could write the coin's discription on the top of the 2"x2"s.
