Howdy all,
Hit the soccer field for a few hours before work. Scored the nice ring about 30 minutes into the hunt. Then nothin but clad and trash till the walk back to the car. The earring hit in the dime range but falsed the depth. I dug the plug at a couple inches only to find the bling at a half inch or so. I dig a few of these each year and they always try and fool me. Its small but still counts as a second silver item for the day. This field is a test of patience. Sometimes I go 20 minutes or more without a signal other than iron. Its kicked loose gold for others in the past, and will for me some day as well. Now its off to work. Thanks for lookin and luck in the hunt.

Is this a high school field, park field, or league? Could you also explain how you go about covering the whole thing?

Awesome collection.

I have a Mastiff, but I don't find nearly as much cool stuff.

Thanks Fathead. This was a park/ athletic field. I usually start a line at the edge of the field, and work to the other side. Then turn around and overlap the previous line. i work slow and probe or dig any repeatably signal above iron. In newer fields this makes it easy to cover a lot of ground, as most targets are rarely deeper than 3 inches. I use a propointer amd a screwdriver to probe surface targets. I do remove a ton of trash but my keeper rate is steady.

You mean intelligent planning, hard work, patience, and focus?

I'm doomed. I was hoping there was some mistical earth force that you could teach me how to tap into. Perhaps a jewelry talisman, a gold shaman, or an aardvark that was specially trained to sniff precious metals.

I am going to try your suggestions on a park field that I want to try, but if I strike out, I'm getting an aardvark.

Thanks for all of your generous help. Good luck (not that you need it)
