So I took my brother in law out hunting this afternoon. He fired up his 10 old tecknetics machine and off we went. We dug a few wheaties, a 1 schilling coin from Austria (1960) and then popped out this thing. At first i thought it was civil war due to the troop movements through central Massachusetts, but it turns out to be very early 20th century 1904-1906, weird

That really cool JD, congrats & HH

looks awesome, what a find

Any chance the park hosted G.A.R. events post Civil War?

Some encampments hit the same site repeatedly.
Here's some vauge clues in your area.

Not saying that's where your relic came from.
But if it did there's likely more related stuff.
Parts of medals turn up in some areas. (Some medals were commemorative Current issue at event times postwar.) Some noted due to being made from captured cannons previously.

That's a awesome find. Congrats!

I understand what was found. What I don't understand is the title reference to "More weird $417 found in park". Can you explain?

Cool looking find Joe, Congrats... "D"

I assume the crossed cannons pin you found is a hat badge, that's an amazing find Bob! :notworthy:
Considering that you found it in a city park, the condition is amazing.
I'd be interested in seeing a pic of it cleaned up and a shot of the back... the style of the attachment pin will help date it :icon_scratch:

If it were mine, I'd have a professional straighten it out and display it in a Riker Box frame.

I don’t know what happened there, I guess I was typing fast and listening to my wife tell me a story, definitely need to look before I press buttons

Nice find. Anything military-related is great in my opinion, especially in that condition. Congrats!

Hey Man... that looks C-L-E-A-N!
