At least the machine had the courtesy to die at the end of the hunt and after finding a gold ring. I hunt lots of dumps and really trashy areas, so it usually takes me part of a day to realize that the detector is going through death throes, and I wonder how many hours I have been swinging a worthless stick around and how many finds I passed over.

Congratulations on the big gold ring.

It sucks when a machine decides to pack it in for no reason except a manufacturer defect.
Hope you have a back up machine.

Nice ring. I’ll bet Kent was mad at his girlfriend. It appears to have yarn around the back to make it fit a smaller finger. An old trick deployed by many a “steady” especially in the 1970s. Are you planning to research the owner and return it? I notice there’s no picture of the school name or school initials. Good luck and sorry to hear about your machine giving out.

I was surprised to see yarn still attached after 45 or so years. Their are initials on the inside though

Thanks. No back up machine but Im tempted to get a $399 Nokta Legend if they indeed fixed its issues in saltwater that I had with thefirst firmware they shipped them out on. Sold it for that reason

I'm guessing that the tape used on it as a sizer indicates that the guy let his girlfriend wear it and she evidently lost it
