Finally had a chance to get a couple good hunts in this weekend. Hit the woods of a new old city park and a well pounded one.

Tokens and tags

The token in the upper right is a CIvil War Era Store Card style token. Here is a non dug example of this guy.

Here is the mystery copper, size of a large cent, on the thicker side, pretty smooth, one side has a distinct line and I just noticed some text coming through on the edge.

Any ideas on the ID of this copper?

Here is the rest of the finds.

Spoons, some old pieces in there

Misc buttons and brass bits

Good luck out there!

Very nice & interesting finds. Congrats ! Since you say it is thick & the size of a Large Cent, & it has a lettered edge, I'm guessing it is either a 1793, 1794, or 1795 lettered edge U.S.Large Cent, which could have had; "ONE HUNDRED FOR A DOLLAR" written on the edge of the coin.
I took your edge image & flipped it upside down & compared it to a 1794 L.C. & it looks to me like it matches up with the word "HUNDRED" (though yours is a little corroded & worn). I also included The word "DOLLAR" from the edge of a 1793 L.C.
in the image. R.S. Yeoman's "Red Book" explains all this stuff.

Dude! I’d give anything to have a day like that! It would take me all summer to find half the quality.

Nothing like getting a mitt full of finds from a hard hit park.
Just takes a little work in the wooded areas.
Congrats on the Coppers.

Thx for the ID. If only this coin was in good shape? well at least the tiny amount with details were enough to at least positively ID. Thx

Thx for the info on this coin. I?m assuming it must be a Flowing Hair Wreath Cent from 1793. Wow, thx man.

You had a very productive outing there Thad. The civil war store card is a cool find. The lettered edge large cent is a real heartbreaker. I'm wondering why you think it is a 1793 as opposed to a 1794 or 1795? You need to invest in a scale buddy :laughing7:

Nice finds Thad.

The Pa boys are finding some oldies.

That's an old copper for sure.

We have it good here with a wide array of stuff we can find.

Good luck
