This paddle was found by my wife a couple of weeks ago floating in the surf near Jupiter Fl. She is a shell nut and travels all over Florida looking for unique shells. I feel this is Cuban as near where this was found a homemade raft washed ashore & was on the tv news. I don't think it could be Bahamian as it would have had to cross the gulf stream. People are still fleeing Cuba's wonderful socialist dictatorship.

I can,t tell you anything about it,s origin newnan but it has some pretty grain in that wood.I agree with smokey, use a little oil finish to accent that grain and you,ll have something pretty.Just a thought,if the type of wood can be ID,ed that might give you a better clue to it,s origin.

Hey newnan !!.....I think your right with the cuban origin.....many rafts get caught up in the keys before they make it up that far. I have seen many paddles such as yours left onboard the rafts !! I even have a couple I brought home also. Cheers mate !!
