I think it is coal.In some picture it looks to be in layers like sedimentary rock that is why I think coal but in a few pictures it almost looks fractured like obsidian would be or slag glass. So it is hard to say from pictures.

Anthracite from the looks of it, the hardest form of coal, also known as 'stone coal'.

If no one can positively identify your finds - you might consider posting your pictures on ROCKS/GEMS for more exposure...

Looks like coal to me too. Hold a lighter to it. It should burn.

It is obsidian, depending on what state, and where it was found will determine what they are worth. A Saffordite which is also a type of obsidian can be worth $50 a gram, whereas a plain obsidian may only be worth 1 cents a gram.
