I got out for a short hunt today, my first for 2023. I dug about 10 wheaties and this Navy button, a first for me. I need some help dating it. Anybody out there have any idea what I have found? I checked several charts to try and identify my Navy button but I am at a loss as to which one it is, and which time period it is from. Let me know what you guys think.

I found the same button this summer. I believe "but could be wrong" it's 1860's Union Navy. I'm sure someone on here will nail it down for you though.

That has a very odd reverse.
I'll wait this one out to find out....
I am curious about the reverse as well. I wish it still had the backstamp as I believe it would make identification easier.

Great Save of the Navy button. The Eagle looks right to make it a CW period button. I unfortunately don't have the button book, but someone will come along and help you nail the ID. Well Done.
