Need help identifying old flat button

Found this old flat button in a colonial field yesterday and need some help identifying it. There is a shield on the front with a banner above it with what looks like the word "THROUGH". One the back there is a bunch of writing but I can only make out the words 'Button' and 'THE'. It is the size of a quarter. I am afraid to try and clean it any more because I don't want to lose what is there.

It's a livery button from Hamilton family. "Through". I found a similar one several years back, and posted here:

Thanks! I know that Lafayette marched through this field on his way to meet George Washington in 1782. I believe there was a Lt. Hamilton serving under him at the time. Would be cool if it was tied to that.

Thanks! I know that Lafayette marched through this field on his way to meet George Washington in 1782. I believe there was a Lt. Hamilton serving under him at the time. Would be cool if it was tied to that.

Livery buttons were typically worn by house staff, so it was not likely to be military. Also the backmark looks to be circa 1800-1810 style.
