Hello Forum,

I found this knife at an old homestead. Can anyone help to identify it? It was found near a general service military button. This made me wonder if it was military. If there are any knife experts out there I would love to know if you could give me any clues. Hunting knife, military, fishing, defense? Thanks for looking!
The serrations on the back of the blade are meant to be used for removing fish scales. Similar examples can be found on the internet by searching for "fishing knife", "fish scaler" etc.

Based on the style of the blade, I'm thinking it's a mid-20thc serrated knife.
Here's an example from the early 20thc that I found, I tumbled it and put a new handle on it.

Nice find,
Dave

That’s got my vote. I remember the cheap imperial fishing knives and they had built in scalers on the back side of the blade.
I couldn't find any online ,but did recall cheap ones with metal scales. More like pressed tin scales. Hollow between tang and outer scales.
Late nineteen sixties early seventies maybe.
A slight bump/ flare in the handle up front served as a finger guard.
